In need of a UX/UI Designer? Well, look no further. Hi! My name is Connor Ashton, a Salt Lake City-based, Dr. Pepper fueled designer who creates clean, modern prototypes for the world to enjoy.
Hello World.
Although I am young and new to the industry, that does not mean I should be underestimated. I know I have the skillset and know-how to complete any job. If I encounter a problem that I am not sure how to approach, I am a fast learner and can adapt to most environments.
Where I Came From.
I started my journey in high school where I attended Meridian Technical Charter High School. Here, I studied graphic design and was devoted to improving my skills. During my senior year, we were required to complete a 200-hour internship which I completed working at Shop Strange Custom Printing. At Shop Strange, I created logos for clients to put on shirts, hats, backpacks, or any garment that you could think of. After my internship, they hired me on as an employee and I worked there for a total of a year before deciding to go to college.
Colleges and Bootcamps
I first attended Utah State University studying graphic design. However, after one semester of college, I realized it was not what I truly wanted to do. For the next year, I looked for better opportunities. I researched schools, programs, boot camps, or anything I could get my hands on. After a year of searching, I landed upon Thinkful and their UX/UI design program. In high school, I was introduced to UX/UI, but it was still such a young industry that there was not a lot of information about it. But from what I was introduced to, I loved it and wanted to learn more. I enrolled in the Thinkful program and created prototypes, wireframes, personas, and completed user research to complete projects. After graduating from this program I hope to work in the entertainment/streaming industry, working for companies such as Spotify, Pandora, Youtube, and other companies.
Where I Am Now.
Although I am still fairly new to the UX/UI industry, I feel that my 6 years of graphic design experience has prepared me for anything that comes my way in this new field of work. I will always be open to learning new things and adapting to new programs.
Although my background could be considered extensive, I know my journey does not stop there. I will never, EVER want to stop learning new things. It is what keeps me motivated to better myself and my work (other than Dr. Pepper). Although my need for learning drives me, I feel that I am ready for the industry with my background, drive, and determination.
